Implants General Information
Implants are titanium fixtures that replace the root of your teeth.  They can hold crowns (caps), bridges and dentures.

General benefits of implant therapy:

1) When you lose teeth your jawbone will shrink. Implants (like teeth), maintain your bone from shrinking over the years.

2) Implants do not decay.

3) More than a hundred studies worldwide show implant therapy as one of the most safe and predictable procedures in dentistry. The success rate of implant therapy is 95-100% after 15 years of use.

4) Implant placement procedure is painless and the recovery is just as that of a tooth extraction. After implants are placed and “integrated” with your bone, the restorative phase is completed just as with natural teeth.

1) Implant dentures stay in place 5-10 times better than regular dentures. Therefore,
you will chew harder and more efficiently with implant dentures, you will eat things you could not eat before, you will pronounce your words better and you will laugh with confidence, because you know your dentures will stay in place.
All the above will result in better health and a better social life.

2) Research shows how implant overdentures improve the quality of life of edentulous patients (patients without any teeth). One hundred percent of patients who switched from dentures to implant overdentures rated the later as FAR better in all studies done worldwide. Dr. Ambard conducted one of these studies.

3) When you lose teeth your jawbone will shrink. The less bone you have, the more your dentures will move. Implants (like teeth), maintain your bone from shrinking over the years.

1) Implants are better than bridges because you can put a crown on an implant without reducing any teeth to hold a bridge. Therefore, implants conserve your natural teeth. They also help to maintain your bone that otherwise will be lost if there is no tooth to which it holds.

2) Implants eliminate the need of removable bridges.

The Hybrid prosthesis (click to see photo # 1) (click to see photo # 2)
For those who are missing or will miss all remaining teeth, and would like a prosthesis that is significantly less bulky than a denture, completely rigid (it does not move at all) and that you simply can not take out (we do when needed), the hybrid prosthesis is a great choice. It consists of a bar fabricated from gold and palladium, which connects all the implants and has the teeth on the top. The prosthesis is secured to your implants with gold screws.

When only one tooth is missing, a single implant crown not only restores the missing tooth but looks like there was never a missing tooth to begin with.

Crowns and Bridges (click here to see photo)
A crown or “cap” is a restoration that covers the entire surface of your tooth. It restores the function and esthetics of teeth.
A bridge is two or more caps connected together with an artificial tooth in between. It restores missing teeth.

Full mouth reconstructions (click to see photo 1) (click to see photo 2) (click to see photo 3)
At times, a full mouth reconstruction is necessary to restore your function and esthetics adequately. Although some dentists perform these procedures, only prosthodontists are formally and extensively trained to do so. A full mouth reconstruction will provide you with the smile you always wanted.

Veneers and other Cosmetic Services (case study 1) (case study 2)
A veneer is a laminate made from porcelain. They can effectively improve esthetics by altering the color, the position and the shape of your teeth. Veneers are conservative restorations. A minimal amount of tooth reduction is required for their fabrication.

In addition to veneers, we offer other cosmetic services such as bonding, bleaching and porcelain inlays and onlays

Dentures (click here to see photo 1) (click here to see photo 2)
In our office we do not make “off the shelf”/conventional dentures. We fabricate custom-made dentures.
The unique design and construction makes our dentures as close to natural teeth as possible. Aside from the superior look, the comfort and fit are much better.

We have our own in-house lab. This is how we provide you with individualized detail. Furthermore, we can address your concerns in record time as our lab is right at the office.

Partials (click here to see photo)
Removable partial dentures or “RPDs” are metal/acrylic removable devices designed for replacing missing teeth. RPDs are an affordable option to fixed prostheses and implant prostheses. They provide excellent service at a lower cost by effectively replacing missing teeth.

In some situations, they are the best treatment option available for you.

TMD
Temporomandibular disorder, TMD, is a complex disorder involving the TMJ (temporomandibular joint).
Patients with TMD may suffer from a “pop” when they open their mouth, an inability to open the mouth, constant pain in the face, ears and neck, and more.

TMD patients are welcome to our office. Dr. Ambard has received extensive training in this area. He teams with some of the best TMD specialists in town including orthodontists, maxillofacial surgeons and physical therapists.

Oral Cancer Reconstructions (click here to see photo)
Because of trauma, cancer and other reasons, some patients lose important portions of their mouth and face. As a maxillofacial prosthodontist, Dr. Ambard not only does dental work, but also fabricates prostheses to serve this special patient population.

Maxillofacial patients are individuals with specialty care needs. We do our best in our office to provide them with the best possible treatment.

Continuing care
Beyond prosthodontic treatment, our main goal is to take care of our patients. Therefore, we make sure that they receive continuing dental care and maintain optimal oral health.

Our patients are encouraged to visit our hygienist every six months. During the hygienist visit, they receive a cleaning, radiographs if necessary, oral hygiene tools and an exam. If treatment is indicated we will take care of it.

Snoring and Apnea Appliances (click to see photo # 1) (click to see photo # 2)
Snoring and apnea appliances are becoming more and more popular. We offer different appliances according to your needs)

Fillings (click to see photo)
We provide you with different options of fillings according to your needs.
